Valentine Book + Gift Round Up

Tuesday, February 9, 2016

I'm not sure how I feel about the origins of Valentine's Day, but I'm always looking for a decent excuse to eat chocolate so I'm totally on board.  Here are a few suggestions that may bring the spirit of St. Valentine into your home this week.

Arthur's Valentine- A cute back and forth between Arthur and his secret admirer.

You and Me- features beautiful rose tinted watercolor illustrations, if you have a pink lover in your family they will surely appreciate the cotton candy hues along with the sweetness of the verses.

Guess How Much I Love You- as author Sam McBratney says, this story explains the relationship between a "big one and a wee one," with the father explaining exactly how much he loves his little one, from as big as his arms will stretch to right up to the moon and back.

Lilly's Chocolate Heart- Lilly is one of Henkes' best characters, and she needs to find a special place for her last Valentine's treat.

A Kiss for Little Bear- Sendak's drawings of Little Bear and friends bring Minark's characters to life. This book is especially fitting for Valentine's as it involves kisses and ends in a skunk wedding. What could be more appropriate than that?

The Valentine Bears- in a rare turn of events Mr. and Mrs Bear decide to interrupt their usual hibernation and celebrate Valentine's Day. They know how to do it up right, with handmade Valentine's, poetry, and chocolate covered ants.

Some fun Valentine gift picks from the left to the right:

Grimm's Wooden Heart Set, Smencils Colored Scented Pencils, Eeboo Icecream Matching Game, Ramp Racer, Whoa-Bots Ninja, Sleeping Queens Card Game, Melissa and Doug Scratch Art, Bow and Arrow
